Job summary

UPMC in Steubenville, OH seeks a Radiologic Technologist with mammography proficiency to perform breast imaging and related procedures under limited supervision.

You will ensure order accuracy, obtain high-quality images, perform equipment QC, educate patients, and support radiology staff including PACS and MagView; requires ARRT and Ohio license, BLS.

Qualifications

Job description

Performs mammographic procedures at a technical level requiring limited supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures utilizing existing standards as a guide. Demonstrates the ability to utilize independent judgment in the completion of routine exams/procedures. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required including breast ultrasound, dexascan and specialized breast imaging interventions: Sterotactic Biopsy, Ultrasound Core Biopsy and Cyst Aspiration.

Responsibilities:

• Assesses for accuracy of orders and examinations.

• Utilizes skills and equipment pertinent to obtaining quality mammography, images and bone density imaging.

• Performs quality control on all equipment accurately and thoroughly.

• Educates patients regarding examinations to be performed and general breast care.

• Performs clerical/support functions as assigned.

• Utililizes management information (PACS, Magview) appropriately and accurately.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

• High School Graduate.

• Minimum of one year clinical experience within the general radiologic area, with a thorough understanding of departmental function.

• Demonstrates the ability to consistently perform mammography imaging as well as assist the radiologist with procedures.

• Must demonstrate strong technical and clinical skills and possess the ability to recognize changes in patient response and initiate appropriate modifications to routines.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology training program in an A.M.A. Approved school.

• Must be registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or other recognized credentialing body.

• Must obtain registry in mammography within one year of hire date.

• May be required to possess specialty credential in addition to ,R.T.-M, ie. sonography or bone densitometry.

• Must possess current Ohio license within area of assignment.

• BLS provider or obtain within 3 months of hire.

• ARRT Certificate

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
