Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Mammography Technologist to perform mammographic procedures at a technical level with limited supervision, including breast ultrasound, dexascan, and specialized interventions such as Sterotactic Biopsy, Ultrasound Core Biopsy, and Cyst Aspiration.

Responsibilities include confirming order accuracy, producing high-quality mammography and bone density images, performing quality control, educating patients, handling clerical tasks, and utilizing PACS/Magview systems

• Utilizes skills and equipment pertinent to obtaining quality mammography, images and bone density imaging.
• Performs quality control on all equipment accurately and thoroughly.
• Educates patients regarding examinations to be performed and general breast care.
• Performs clerical/support functions as assigned.
• Utilizes management information (PACS, Magview) appropriately and accurately.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Performs mammographic procedures at a technical level requiring limited supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures utilizing existing standards as a guide. Demonstrates the ability to utilize independent judgment in the completion of routine exams/procedures. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required including breast ultrasound, dexascan and specialized breast imaging interventions: Sterotactic Biopsy, Ultrasound Core Biopsy and Cyst Aspiration.
