Job summary

InterMed in Scarborough is hiring a Radiologic Technologist for our new Scarborough Downs location with a January 2027 start. Bring AMA accredited radiology training, Maine ARRT licensure, and BLS. You will perform high-quality radiographs, ensure ALARA safety, and support scheduling and QA in a team-focused environment. Sign-on bonus available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of AMA accredited radiology program
• State of Maine ARRT licensed
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

• Produce digital radiographs of consistently high quality using proper techniques
• Adjust equipment for optimal image quality and safety
• Position patient correctly and apply immobilization as needed to minimize discomfort
• Apply protective lead shielding and correct beam collimation for each exam
• Ensure correct patient and film identification and adherence to ALARA principles
• Maintain clean and organized x-ray room and workflow
• Report equipment problems and assist with resolution
• Answer phones and assist with scheduling as necessary
• Observe universal precautions and safety procedures including pregnancy inquiries
• Demonstrate knowledge of EMR, RIS, and PACS systems
• Mentor radiography students and provide clinical competency testing
• Assist with exam selection and scheduling across sites

Provide quality radiologic studies as ordered by InterMed physicians using proper technique and professional interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Producedigitalradiographsof consistently high quality by using proper techniques in the following areas:
• Proper adjustment of equipment
• Appropriate positioning of patient
• Arranging,attachingor adjusting immobilization and supportive devices such as sandbags to obtain precise positionminimizingpatient discomfort while preventing motion
• Adjustment of protective lead shields
• Utilizationof primary beam collimation forevery exam
• Positioning of equipment-distance and angle to present clearimage
• Appropriatepatient and film identification
• Adherence to Radiation Protection Guidelines - ALARA principles
• Competency in pediatric and adult studies asdeterminedby protocol manuals
• Gather all information necessary for successful studyi.e.additionalpatient history
• Maintain x-ray room andwork areain cleanorganized fashion
• Report problems with equipment andassistin resolution
• Answer phone andassistwith scheduling as necessary
• Observe universal precautions and other necessary safety procedures such as asking women ofchild bearingage aboutpossible pregnancies
• Wear radiationmonitoring deviceat all times
• Assist with QA by gathering and reporting any necessary data
• Displaynecessarytechniquecharts perform QA testing asrequired, track all repeats and rejects for quarterly analysis
• Maintain all supplies and place orders as necessary
• Maintain certification with American Registry of Radiologic technologists
• Demonstrate working knowledge ofElectronicsystems:Electronic Medical Record (eCW), Radiology Information System (RIS)and Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS)
• Act as clinical mentor to Radiography Students from SMTC, providing guidance and performing clinical competency testing
• Act as a resource for staff/sitesregardingexam selection and scheduling of X-ray studies
• Perform other related duties incidental to worktherein

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Successful completion of AMA accredited radiology program
• State of Maine and ARRTlicensed
• Ability to use independent judgment
• Ability tointeract well with radiologists
• Ability to interact in a positive manner with co-workers and other membersof theInterMed staff
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast pacedwork environment, providing excellent customer service
• Ability tomake adjustmentsin daily work schedule to accommodate add-on patients for same day exams

The estimated compensation range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. Certain positions may be eligible for incentive compensation plans above and beyond base compensation.
