SENECA HEALTHCARE DISTRICT seeks a Radiologic Technologist with General Radiography and CT experience. The candidate should be proficient with Siemens CT scanners and Digital Radiography, and possess a California certification with ARRT preferred.

This position emphasizes patient safety, image quality, and teamwork within the radiology department. Responsibilities include patient preparation, image acquisition, contrast administration when needed, and adherence to ALARA guidelines.

Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree in Radiology or AMA‑approved program in radiography.
  • California state certification required; ARRT preferred.
  • CT experience including postoperative processing and reconstruction.
  • Fluoroscopy permit preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and position patients for radiography and fluoroscopy.
  • Operate X‑ray and CT equipment; adjust factors for each exam.
  • Ensure radiation safety per ALARA; shield patients as needed.
  • Prepare IV or oral/rectal contrast when required; monitor patients.
  • Assist with sterile technique and invasive CT procedures under supervision.
  • Train Radiologic Technologist I/II and participate in QA with PACS.

SummaryGeneral RadiographyOperates imaging equipment to make images of designated portions of body as ordered by the physician. Positions and instructs the patient for radiological or fluoroscopic examinations. Adjusts imaging equipment and determines the proper voltage, current and desired exposure time for each image.Computerized Axial Tomography (CT)Provides computerized axial tomographic services to patients as ordered by physician according to established standards and practices with adherence to CT exam protocols.Essential FunctionsGeneral RadiographyInstructs and prepares the patient, selects appropriate equipment and technical factors, determines most suitable anatomical positions and shields patients according to radiation safety procedures.Images designated/order anatomical portions of the body.Arrange, attach or adjust immobilization and supportive devices such as sandbags, binders, and angle boards to obtain precise position, prevent patients from moving and lessen discomfort.May prepare and administer IV, oral/rectal contrast for patient examinations.Assists in performing sterile technique procedures as required.May perform fluoroscopy and invasive procedures under the direct supervision of the Radiologist.May train and evaluate Radiological Technologist I and II.Computerized Axial Tomography (CT)Instructs and prepares the patient for CT examinations.Prepares equipment and supplies as needed for each study; checks calibrating equipment and recalibrates as necessary.Positions patient to demonstrate/image clinical care of interest.Adjusts and operates CT equipment to scan designated anatomical areas.Monitors patient’s safety and comfort; records all required information.Produced post-processing reconstructions as required by exam protocols or radiologist requestsKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of the use of Digital Radiography and CT with facilitation of image QC and functional use of PACS.Generalized knowledge of the concepts and application of ALARA and Image Gently to ensure maximum radiation dose optimization and safety.Knowledge of Diagnostic Imaging best practices and the ability to optimize department processes and protocolsAbility to speak in a clear, pleasant and understandable manner and to write legibly using correct spelling, language and punctuation skills.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, employees, physicians, and officials in other departmentsAbility to maintain neat, legible and organized written records.Ability to learn new procedures, protocols and assignments within a reasonable time-frame, retain the knowledge and maintain awareness of changes.Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.Ability to treat patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers with courtesy and respectAbility to maintain a high quality of patient care at all times and in all circumstances.Ability to be available for on-call and stand-by status when scheduled.Physical Requirements, Safety, and Environmental ConditionsFollows safe work practices, takes an active interest in preventing injury or illness and promoting a safe and healthful environment for self and others, and complies with Hospital and governmental safety regulations.Must function independently, have personal integrity, have flexibility and the ability to work effectively with other personnel, clients, and support agenciesSits, stands, bends, lifts, walks, and moves intermittently during working hours and ability to lift up to 20 lbs.ComplianceAssumes personal responsibility to comply with all Federal, State and local laws governing business conduct, conducts business in an ethical and trustworthy manner, and displays the qualities and characteristics of a professional at all times when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, volunteers, and fellow employees.Exemplifies the Seneca Core Values in all aspects of work responsibilities and demonstrates these values to fellow employees and supervisors.Quality of WorkAssumes responsibility for professional customer service when working with the public, physicians, and other departments.Strives for excellence in following policies and procedures.Utilizes positive communication skills when interacting with people who work for, are serviced by, or associated with the hospital, to ensure that persons receive the highest degree of attention and courtesy.Maintains confidentiality of information received in the department and throughout the hospital by complying with strict confidentiality regulations per HIPAA requirements.Promotes professional growth of self and co-workers by participating in on-the-job training, continuing education and assisting with training of new employees.QualificationsGeneral Radiographyo AA or AS Degree in Radiology or graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography. Valid and current certification by the State of California required.Minimum Three (3) years Digital Radiography and CT experience including CT Angiography and Post processing reconstruction required. Experience with Siemens CT scanners preferred.
