Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Radiologic Technologist Assistant to support the radiology team across multiple locations in the Main Hospital and clinics in Birmingham. The role involves patient transport, room setup, and assisting technologists during examinations, with flexible full-time, part-time, AM/PM and PRN shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required or should be obtained within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assists technologist with patient care as directed. Sets up the imaging room to coincide with the examination being performed to include the use of proper isolations precautions when needed.
• Positions patients, ensuring patient comfort and modesty
• Provides assistance to patients in the waiting area.
• Receives supplies and restocks storage and imaging rooms as needed.
• Transports patients by wheelchair, stretcher, etc. utilizing appropriate patient transfer techniques.
• Exhibits an awareness of ionizing radiation and time, distance and shielding.
• Demonstrates an awareness of patient and personal safety
• Orients patients to the environment upon their arrival.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
