Loyola Medicine is seeking a Senior Radiology Imaging X-Ray Modality Technical Specialist to serve as the technical SME and lead the development and implementation of imaging protocols for the region. This role collaborates with leadership, physicians, and staff to ensure high-quality diagnostic imaging.

You will educate staff, oversee safety protocols, and direct quality initiatives while coordinating with vendors and internal teams for best practices in radiology imaging across modalities.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent training
• 3–5 years of related experience
• May require on-call, weekend, holiday and emergency coverage
• Travel to offsite locations as needed
• Preferred: X-Ray Application Specialist experience with a major medical equipment vendor

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical subject matter expert in radiology imaging protocols across the region
• Develop and implement clinical imaging protocols and ensure adherence to safety standards
• Act as chief educator/trainer for staff and Clinical Instructor
• Oversee scanner accreditation and quality assurance for the modality
• Liaise with equipment vendors, physicians, and staff to optimize diagnostic imaging

Modality Technical Specialist

Schedule: Day Shift; M-F (9:00am - 5:30pm)

Rotation: Individual will be scheduled as a working technologist 4 days of the week and provided 8 hours of office time.

Location: Loyola Medical Center & support Satellites as needed

About the Job

In this role the Radiology Imaging X-Ray Modality Technical Specialist, in collaboration with the Radiology Leadership, including Physician Leader(s), functions as the technical subject matter expert. This position is charged with the development & implementation of all clinical imaging protocols for the region. The Radiology Imaging X-Ray Modality Technical Specialist acts as the chief educator/super trainer for all staff, Clinical Instructor, Scanner Accreditations, oversees all Safety protocols and all research projects, directs quality for the modality, and serves as a liaison between the equipment vendor, physicians, & staff. In addition, this person performs technical procedures, applying modality specific techniques that require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to provide the physician with the highest quality of diagnostic information.

What you'll need

• Associate degree; or equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
• Specific Degree(s): Radiologic Technology; Radiology Technologist- AMA approved program
• 3-5 years of previous job-related experience
• May require on-call, weekend, holiday and emergency coverage as department needs warrant.
• Requires travelling to offsite locations as needed
• Preferred: industry work experience as X-Ray Application Specialist with a major medical equipment vendor

Licensure/Certifications

Required:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologist R.T. (R)(ARRT) (ARRT) Approved AMA program
• Illinois Emergency Management Agency Certification (IEMA)
• CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from American Heart Association

Annual Salary Range: $35.00 - 59.00

Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
