Job description

Job title: Radiographer (Radiologic Technologist)
Locations: Dearborn, MI; Novi, MI; Plymouth, MI
Duration: 13 weeks with possible extension
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3:30 PM
Pay rate: $14/hr; Weekly stipend $1,582.00; Weekly gross $2,142.00

Required:

  • Must have at least one year of experience working with a C-arm
  • Pain management procedure experience strongly preferred
  • Must be registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or registry eligible
  • Healthcare Provider certification required (BCLS)

Duties:

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of a Radiologist, performs Radiologic procedures for evaluating pathological entities as ordered by a physician. Performs related functions according to department protocols, using independent judgment in determining appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and safety practices.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Explains examination procedures to patients and prepares them for the examination.
  2. Reviews clinical data on requisitions and performs appropriate examinations; obtains additional patient medical history as necessary.
  3. Prepares the procedure room and replenishes supplies such as linen and related items.
  4. Analyzes the patient's anatomical structure, sets up equipment, and performs radiologic procedures, utilizing patient immobilization as needed.
  5. Selects and administers intravenous contrast media; monitors patients for reactions and provides immediate care if reactions occur.
  6. Performs imaging procedures following radiation protection principles, including shielding and ALARA techniques.
  7. Prepares sterile equipment, monitors, and supplies required for procedures, following infection control practices.
  8. Ensures patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, comfort, and legal/ethical rights are maintained.
  9. Completes documentation, logs, and patient records accurately.
  10. Assists in teaching and mentoring new hires and students when needed.
  11. Resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing and confirming image counts.
  12. Completes study indexing and documentation in RIS, including study start and end times.
  13. Reviews protocols with radiologists before performing studies.
  14. Demonstrates team standards such as AIDET, open communication, positive attitude, and respect for diversity.
  15. Performs all documentation in medical records and radiology systems to support clinical and billing functions.
Skills and Working Conditions:
  • Work in hospital settings, including fixed units and mobile units in IPD/OR/ER.
  • Potential exposure to radiation, high-voltage equipment, and contagious patients, with proper precautions.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of equipment or patients over 10 lbs.
Schedule Notes:
  • Willingness to travel up to 30 miles from the home facility to cover other clinics.
  • Team player, willing to assist with other tasks when radiology duties are light.
  • Primarily working with a C-arm and confident in managing it.
