Job summary

WSU Nuclear Science Center invites applications for a Radiochemist to support research on chemical and isotope separations, characterize nuclear processes, and teach at least one undergraduate nuclear science course per semester.

The successful candidate will identify research problems, design approaches, pursue external funding, and analyze data while working in radiological controlled areas. Safety, data quality, and technique development are essential.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related scientific or engineering discipline with four (4) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience; PhD may substitute for up to two years of required work experience.
  • Satisfactory Background Check.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen at time of hire.
  • Within 6 months of hire, must complete the CPR, first aid, and AED trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Support research on chemical and isotope separations and characterize chemical and nuclear processes.
  • Instruct at least one undergraduate course in nuclear science per semester.
  • Identify and define nuclear-related research problems and design approaches.
  • Secure extramural funding and interpret experimental data.
  • Handle radiological materials and work in radiological areas; ensure safety and quality control.

Education

Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline
PhD degree may substitute for up to two years of required work experience
