Job summary

Washington State University’s Nuclear Science Center in Pullman seeks a Radiochemist to support research on chemical and isotope separations, characterize nuclear processes, and teach at least one undergraduate course per semester.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and four (4) years of progressively responsible related professional research experience.
  • Satisfactory Background Check.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen at time of hire.
  • Within 6 months of hire, CPR, first aide, and AED trainings.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and define nuclear-related research problems and design research approaches.
  • Secure extramural funding and manage research projects.
  • Handle radiological materials and operate in radiological controlled areas.
  • Prepare, handle, and analyze samples that can be radioactive; ensure data quality and safety.
  • Instruct at least one undergraduate course per semester.

Education

Master’s degree in related scientific or engineering discipline
PhD in radiochemistry (preferred)
