Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Supervisor-Radio Network to lead the radio network, equipment, and communications across departments. You’ll oversee daily operations, supervise staff, and ensure reliable service delivery with professional standards.

Responsibilities include planning, troubleshooting, training, and implementing new policies to improve production, while maintaining 24/7 readiness and coordinating complex projects in a governmental setting.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of experience in information technology communications, radio, instrumentation, or other electronics experience.
• Two (2) years of experience leading small/medium projects.
• Associate degree (or higher) in an engineering, electronics, computer science, or computer related field, plus six (6) years of the required experience, including two (2) years of the stated leadwork responsibilities will meet the education and experience requirements.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• FCC General Radio Operators License or A+ certification may be required within probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, plans, coordinates, assigns and evaluates work and the use of radio equipment, network, and materials across departments; directs and coaches staff.
• Oversees radio networking activities; monitors equipment functionality and service delivery; sets goals and provides coaching.
• Adjusts work priorities, schedules, resources, and plans to meet deadlines; ensures supplies are available.
• Troubleshoots daily operations; designs, installs, and maintains master control over equipment and operations.
• Coaches and instructs employees; conducts training and development for technical staff; addresses performance issues.
• Interviews, evaluates, and selects candidates; may authorize overtime.
• Identifies and resolves serious grievances; may recommend disciplinary actions.
• Develops and supervises new policies and standards to improve production and effectiveness.
• Performs other work as needed.
