Job summary

City of Dallas is seeking a Senior Radio Technician to lead, coordinate, and assist technicians in maintaining and repairing radio networks and related instrumentation. The role focuses on ensuring systems are maintained and repaired in a timely, cost-effective manner for city departments.

The position requires five years of experience in installation, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of communications equipment; FCC GROL or CompTIA A+ certification; and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Five years of experience in installation, repair, maintenance and troubleshooting of communications equipment and systems.
• An associate degree or higher in electronics, engineering or computer science plus three years of the required experience.
• Valid driver's license with good driving record.
• Must have or obtain FCC GROL or CompTIA A+ certification within probationary period.
• Must pass FBI background check and no disqualifying felonies.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, setup, and troubleshooting of radio equipment, network, and related materials for use in various communications activities for departments; provide senior technical direction.
• Configure, adjust, and program instrumentation and radio equipment; monitor performance and ensure functionality and service delivery.
• Balance priorities, schedules, resources, and work plans to complete projects and maintain supplies.
• Troubleshoot and oversee daily operation of radio communications and related issues; design, install, and maintain control over equipment and operations.
• Advise and train lower level technical employees; support professional development for technical staff.
• Apply new policies and procedures; implement methods to improve production or effectiveness.
• Perform any and all other work as needed or assigned.
