County of San Juan (NM) is seeking a Radio Communications Technician II to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of the county's radio, microwave, fiber optic, and related communication systems. You will ensure system uptime, perform diagnostics, and coordinate with EMS and SJCCA staff.

The role involves outdoor work, navigating FCC requirements, and occasional after-hours shifts. A strong electronics background and relevant certifications are essential.

Formación

• Associates degree in electronics technology with 2 years of related experience or equivalent education/experience.
• FCC General Class License or equivalent.
• Motorola R56 certification.
• CompTIA A+ or equivalent.
• CompTIA Net+ or equivalent.
• CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.
• Valid State of New Mexico driver's license or able to obtain within six months.

Responsabilidades

• Installs, maintains, and repairs county communication systems including microwave, fiber optic, antenna systems, repeaters, base stations, remote control equipment, and emergency alert systems.
• Tests systems regularly, troubleshoots and diagnoses problems, and completes necessary repairs.
• Maintains records related to system performance and repairs; evaluates equipment and recommends replacement as needed.
• Responds to service calls and performs after-hours emergency repairs to keep systems operational.
• Maintains and updates communication system documentation, including procedures and maintenance flow charts.
• Works with contract personnel on maintenance and repairs.
• Maintains list of radio communications assets and FCC licenses.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
