Job summary

County of San Juan (NM) seeks a skilled vehicle and heavy equipment technician to diagnose and repair department vehicles and mobile equipment in the shop or in the field. The role requires following specifications and safety standards for reliable operation.

The position offers a four 10-hour day schedule with rotating on-call duties. Benefits include tool allowance, boot voucher, uniforms, and an ASE certification stipend, with a requirement of a high school diploma/GED and 3 years’

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• ASE Certification required; EV Technician certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair department vehicles and mobile/stationary equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on engines, motors and related equipment.
• Use measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers) to inspect parts and determine wear.
• Dismantle defective parts using hoists, cranes and hand tools; replace parts as needed.
• Maintain safe, clean work environment and comply with procedures.
