Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, is seeking a Radiation Therapist to apply ionizing radiation per prescribed plans under supervisor guidance. You will assist with immobilization, patient care, and safety during treatments, while maintaining accurate records.

Qualified candidates will have training in radiology and radiation therapy, ARRT certification, and a commitment to safety and imaging quality. This role is based in Duke Health’s Radiation Oncology department and includes

Qualifications

• Satisfactory completion of a 24 month course in radiology technology and a 12 month course in radiation therapy technology.
• Satisfactory completion of a 24 month course in radiation therapy technology.
• Registered nurse who has satisfactorily completed a 12-month course in radiation therapy technology.
• Satisfactory completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in radiation therapy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
• Check prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification.
• Explain procedure to patient and obtain cooperation during treatment.
• Prepare room and equipment for patient per prescription.
• Transfer patient safely to treatment couch with care for catheters and IVs.
• Maintain patient markings and monitor for adverse reactions.
