Job summary

Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC is seeking a Radiation Therapist to perform ionizing radiation treatments under supervision, ensuring accuracy of prescriptions and patient safety. The role requires handling immobilization devices, coordinating with Radiation Oncologist, and maintaining clear documentation.

Eligible for relocation assistance and commitment bonuses, with on-call rotation and ongoing adherence to departmental QA and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment.
• Knowledge of human anatomy and proper patient positioning for treatment.
• Ability to administer CPR in medical emergencies.
• Current licensure and ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy per state/national authority.

Responsibilities

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
• Check prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient ID.
• Explain procedures to patient and reinforce oncologist's advice.
• Prepare room/equipment for treatment, immobilization devices and safety measures.
• Transfer patient to treatment couch with care.
• Maintain treatment logs and on-call duties as required.
• Observe safety measures for patient and staff.
• Participate in QA rounds and department activities.
