Job summary

TriStar Summit Medical Center in Nashville is seeking a Radiation Therapist PRN to provide direct patient care within the RT(R) scope. You will set up and deliver treatments, educate patients, and maintain a safe therapeutic environment while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

The role requires ARRT RT(T) certification and a graduate degree in Radiation Therapy, with BLS within 30 days of starting.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school in radiation therapy (AS or BS).
• Registered by ARRT in Radiation Therapy RT(T).
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient status daily and communicate concerns.
• Follow treatment field verification procedures and approvals.
• Fabricate and adjust custom treatment devices per protocol.
• Educate patients about radiation therapy procedures.
• Set up and deliver patient treatments per prescription and plan.
• Operate linear accelerators, simulator, CT and related equipment safely.

Job Summary And Qualifications

The Radiation Therapist RT(T) performs direct patient care within the scope of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized patient care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.

What you will do in this role:

• You will assess the patient status and their reaction to treatment on a daily basis and communicate concerns to appropriate person.
• You will follow proper procedure for treatment field verification and approval.
• You will practice proper procedure in fabricating custom treatment devices.
• You will educate patients relative to radiation therapy treatment procedures.
• You will set up and accurately deliver patient treatments according to the prescription and treatment plan.
• You will operate linear accelerators, simulator, CT and other related equipment in a safe and effective manner.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate from a accredited school in the instruction of radiation therapy. AS or BS degree.
• Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy RT(T), ARRT.
• BLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Experience preferred but not required
