Job summary

TriStar Skyline Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, is seeking a Radiation Therapist PRN to join its radiation oncology team. The role involves delivering prescribed treatments accurately, monitoring patient setup, and collaborating with the oncologists and therapy staff to ensure safe, effective care.

The ideal candidate will have ARRT certification in radiation therapy, an associate degree (bachelor’s preferred), and BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and ARRT certified.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience.
• ARRT certification in radiation therapy and BLS certification required.
• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver prescribed radiation therapy accurately for each patient and monitor setup discrepancies.
• Maintain professional conduct and patient well-being within the radiation oncology team.
• Demonstrate knowledge of radiation therapy conditions, diseases and treatments.
• Identify changes in patient status and report to appropriate personnel.
• Maintain accurate Electronic Medical Records via effective communication.
• Assist in immobilization device creation and blocking techniques for conformal therapy.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Responsibilities:

The Radiation Therapist functions as an integral member of the radiation oncology team. The Radiation Therapistsis responsible foraccurately delivering the prescribed course of treatment to each patient and closelymonitoringand reporting any discrepancies in the patient setup

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include but not limited to:

• Demonstrated responsibility and accountability in the performance of treatment, assessment, and implementation of the prescribed treatment plan
• Displays professional conduct essential to the well-being of the radiation oncology patient
• Demonstrated knowledge of the specific conditions,diseasesand treatment therapies for the patient population of the department
• Recognizes changes in the patient’s status/condition and reports toappropriate personnel
• Demonstrates effective verbal and electronic communication skillsin order tomaintainan accurateElectronic Medical Records
• Utilizes treatment accessories to accurately reproduce the radiation treatment
• Expertisein the technical aspects of radiation oncology to include simulation and treatment processes to ensureoptimalradiation treatment delivery
• Ensure that all QA procedures are complete and within tolerances beforeproceedingwith patient treatment as outlined in department policies and procedures (any abnormalities/inconsistencies should be reported to the proper authority)
• Works closely with the Radiation Oncologist and therapy team to construct immobilization devices or custom blocking techniques that are conducive to conformal radiation therapy
• Utilizes sophisticated imaging equipment for precise tumor localization
• Knowledgeable in the areas of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, clinical oncology, radiobiology, radiationphysicsand radiation safety
• Has working knowledge of radiation safety principles and practices as defined by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and other regulatory agencies

Qualifications:

Education:

• Required:Associate Degree
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

• Required: Graduate from an accredited Radiation Therapy program and certified by the ARRT in RadiationTherapywithin 6 months of employment
• Preferred: 3 years or more

Certificate or License:

• ARRT certification in radiation therapy
• BLS certified
