Job summary

Community Health Systems is seeking a Radiation Therapist to accurately deliver prescribed radiation therapy, ensure patient positioning, and operate megavoltage equipment in collaboration with the oncology team. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and patient comfort throughout treatment.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of clinical experience, ARRT-T certification, and strong communication skills to support high-quality patient care in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of clinical experience as a Radiation Therapist
• ARRT-T certification required
• Licensed Radiologic Technologist as applicable by state
• BCLS - Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Delivers prescribed radiation therapy treatments using megavoltage equipment and verifies daily treatment parameters for accuracy before each session.
• Positions patients and adjusts equipment settings based on treatment plans, utilizing immobilization devices and alignment techniques.
• Performs daily QA checks and warm-up tests on treatment machines and simulation equipment, initiating corrective action as needed.
• Conducts CT simulations and obtains portal or verification images per department protocols.
• Maintains treatment records and enters data into electronic systems, documenting delivered doses and patient responses.
• Explains procedures and treatment expectations to patients and maintains clear communication throughout the treatment process.
• Monitors patients during treatment for adverse reactions and reports any concerns to the radiation oncologist or oncology nurse.
