SummaryThe Radiation Therapist treats cancer patients using x-rays. They are responsible for setting up the patients in the correct treatment position to deliver radiation precisely to the targeted area.
Essential Job Functions- Delivers radiation therapy treatments according to physician prescription and standard operating procedures and completes all required documentation.
- Executes the precise positioning of the patient with respect to radiation beam and treatment area.
- Observes and assesses patient for clinical changes and reports signs of complications.
- Applies principles of basic radiation physics, radiation interactions and radiation protection, i.e., wears radiation film badge.
- Completes Quality Assurance tracking, records results and assists in maintaining records.
- Performs pain assessment and takes appropriate action according to standard operating procedure.
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization.
