Job summary

MercyOne Clinton Medical Center is seeking a part-time Radiation Therapist for per diem shifts in Clinton, IA. The clinician will assist the Radiation Oncologist, prepare patients for therapy, and document dosages under supervision.

Candidates must hold ARRT certification, Iowa permit to practice, and BLS within 3 months of hire. Responsibilities include operating the Linear Accelerator Unit, documenting treatments, and maintaining patient safety from adult to geriatric.

Qualifications

• ARRT certification is required for practice in radiologic therapy.
• Iowa permit to practice must be active.
• BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
• Basic patient care skills and operation of radiation therapy equipment must be demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Assist Radiation Oncologist in preparing patients for therapy.
• Deliver prescribed radiation treatments under supervision.
• Document dosages in daily logs.
• Patients range from adult to geriatric.

As a Radiation Therapist at MercyOne, you will assist the Radiation Oncologist in preparing the patient for radiation therapy treatments. Under the supervision/direction of the radiation physicist and oncologist, give radiation therapy treatments. Document in daily logs the correct dosages utilized. Ages of patients served range in age from adult to geriatric.

• Per Diem (PRN)

General Requirements:

• American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (T)
• Iowa Department of Public Health Permit to Practice
• BLS certified within 3 months of hire
• Know basic patient care skills, operation of oxygen equipment, radiation therapy treatment equipment, record and verify system, Linear Accelerator Unit, simulation and block preparation skills
