Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Safety Officer in the Aberdeen, MD area to implement and oversee Health & Safety and Radiation Safety programs. You will prepare hazard analyses, conduct trainings, and perform site visits to ensure policy adherence across offices and projects.

You will participate in safety audits, root cause analyses, and regulatory hearings as needed, with a focus on reducing incidents and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of Radiation Safety course and 8-Hour RSO training.
• 3–5 years as Safety Officer with program implementation and investigation duties.
• 5–7 years in a construction-related environment.
• 7+ years as Authorized User of portable moisture density gauges.

Responsibilities

• Implement H&S program and Radiation Safety Program.
• Prepare Activity Hazard Analyses and training classes.
• Conduct site visits to monitor ECS H&S implementation.
• Participate in safety audits and Behavior Based Safety observations.
• Review incident investigations and conduct root cause analyses.
• Attend OSHA hearings and advise on process to limit losses.
• Develop proactive safety and radiation safety outreach with clients and regulators.
• Prepare monthly safety and radiation safety summary reports for management.
• Ensure compliance with regulations for radioactive materials and devices.
• Investigate incidents and recommend changes in safety practices.
