Job summary

ECS Group of Companies (ECS) is seeking a Radiation Officer & Safety Manager in the Aberdeen area to lead the Health & Safety and Radiation Safety Programs across sites. You will prepare hazard analyses, deliver training, and drive compliance with regulatory requirements.

The role involves conducting site visits, leading safety audits, reporting monthly safety and radiation safety summaries, and collaborating with management to align safety goals with corporate programs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Satisfactory completion of Radiation Safety course, USDOT HazMat Transportation course and 8-Hour Radiation Safety Officer training.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer with program implementation and enforcement responsibilities.
• 5-7 years of construction-related experience.
• 7+ years as Authorized User of portable moisture density gauges in construction settings; 5+ years as RSO with Gauge license.
• Experience with Regulatory enforcement and Behavior Based Safety Programs.

Position & Office Overview

As a Radiation Officer & Safety Manager, you have a passion for implementing safety programs and enforcing policies. Responsibilities

• Responsible for the implementation of the Health & Safety [H&S] program, and the Radiation Safety Program
• Prepare Activity Hazard Analyses and training classes
• Conduct periodic site visits to offices and project sites to monitor and assess implementation of the ECS H&S Program
• Ensure active participation in scheduled safety audits and Behavior Based Safety Observations
• Review incident investigations and/or conduct more detailed investigations when necessary
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis in accordance with the H&S Incident Analysis Reporting process
• Attend OSHA and other citation hearings and along with operations management, will provide consultation on process and support ways to limit company losses
• Develop a proactive position for Clients, Project Partners, and Regulatory outreach
• Work with Corporate/Regional Management to ensure safety goals and objectives are aligned with ECS' Corporate Safety Program
• Ensure that management is apprised of and updated on all serious incidents that require medical treatment beyond basic first aid
• Prepare and present to management a monthly safety summary report that summarizes safety incidents, observations, audits, and training in their respective subsidiary

• Ensure the office is complying with applicable regulations involving the use or transportation of radioactive material or radiation-producing devices
• Work with Local, Corporate, and Regional Management to ensure subsidiary and office radiation safety goals and objectives are in accordance with the ECS Corporate Radiation Safety program
• Review radiation field audits and ensure offices meet audit goals
• RSO in incident management in the event of a loss, theft, or damage to any device that contains radioactive materials
• Ensure that management is apprised of and updated on all radiation incidents
• Investigate incidents and recommend changes in practices related to radiation safety and support the ECS radiation safety initiatives
• Attend regulatory hearings as necessary and support methods to limit Office and Corporate liability
• Attend professional development and educational seminars and conferences related to radiation safety as assigned by Corporate Services. May require overnight travel
• Perform other duties related to loss prevention and employee safety as assigned
• You may be responsible for interviewing field technician candidates, hiring and assisting with their training both in the class and out in the field
• Responsibilities may include planning, organizing, and conducting training activities
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Satisfactory completion of an approved Radiation Safety course, USDOT Hazardous Materials Transportation course and 8-Hour Radiation Safety Officer training course
• 3-5 years of experience as a Safety Officer with duties to include a safety program implementation and enforcement, incident documentation and investigation, personnel training, and documentation
• 5-7 years of experience working in a construction-related environment, other experience related to ECS' scope of services
• 7+ years of experience as Authorized User of portable moistre density gauges in a construction related environment;5+ years of experience as a Radiation Safety Officer with a licensee of portable moisture density gauges
• Experience with Regulatory enforcement, contest process and procedures, organizational development techniques, and Behavior Based Safety Programs

The expected pay range for this role and location is $68k - $72k/year. The final agreed-upon compensation will be determined based on specific location and other individual qualifications.
