Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory seeks a Radiation Protection Functional Area Manager to lead the RPFA and ensure compliant radiation protection programs. You will provide strategic direction, oversee personnel, and coordinate with DOE and internal teams to meet mission goals.

The role requires an advanced degree in health physics or related field, extensive radiation protection leadership, and U.S. citizenship for DOE clearance. Hybrid schedule and flexible work options are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in health physics, physics, nuclear engineering, or related field.
• Significant experience leading and/or managing a Radiation Protection program.
• Expert knowledge of DOE radiation protection regulations and practices.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain DOE Q clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead RPFA management, directing disciplines and personnel.
• Provide strategic vision, technical oversight, and program delivery.
• Collaborate with ESH teams to align policies and procedures.
• Interface with DOE offices and external agencies on radiation protection issues.
• Develop data-driven performance measures for RPFA health.
• Oversee performance management, salary planning, and hiring.
• Foster diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
