Garden State Veterinary Specialists in Eatontown, NJ is excited to announce we are looking for a Veterinary Technician to join our Radiation Oncology department. This candidate must be proficient in anesthesia monitoring.

We are a multispecialty practice with boarded veterinary specialists in Emergency and Critical Care, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Oncology, and more. Join a highly collaborative, supportive team that values patient welfare and client communication.

Qualifications

• CVT/LVT/RVT preferred or 2+ years of experience
• Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring is required
• Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential
• Willingness to work in oncology and collaborate with a diverse team

Responsibilities

• Oversee appointments and manage client flow during visits
• Participate in in-patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures with the Oncologist
• Provide injectable chemotherapy and radiation therapy as indicated
• Obtain and process laboratory samples (blood, urine, fluids, FNAs)
• Utilize imaging modalities (radiography, CT) for patient assessment
• Administer, monitor, and recover anesthesia as needed
• Review medical records and maintain accurate documentation
• Deliver compassionate nursing care and strong patient advocacy during hospitalization

Veterinary Technicians at GSVS can expect to do the following as a veterinary technician in oncology:

• Overseeing appointments and managing clients throughout their visit


• Participating with the Oncologist\’s in-patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures


• Provide both injectable chemotherapy and radiation therapy depending on patient diagnosis


• Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates


• Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient and procedural assessment such as radiography and CT


• Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events


• Accuracy in calculating and delivering anesthetic agents, fluids, and CRIs


• Review and understanding of all medical records pertinent to patient care


• Providing empathy, comfort, and unparalleled nursing care to all patients being a strong patient advocate during the patient\’s hospitalization


• Maintaining all equipment on a per-use basis ensuring the safety and best practice care of all patients


• Providing extensive client communication and education on various oncology disease processes

About you:

• CVT/LVT/RVT preferred, or a minimum of 2 years\’ experience as a Veterinary Technician. Proficiency in anesthesia required.


• Experience in oncology is ideal but willing to train the right candidate


• Strong communication skills, verbal and written; organizational skills; proactive thinking and a positive attitude are also a must


• Positive outlook and ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and commitment to develop long-term relationships with colleagues, clients, and community is required.


• Excellent communication and organizational skills are required, and the ability to deliver exceptional client service is expected


• Honesty, integrity, and a desire to learn and have fun!

Schedule:

• Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM

Salary:

• $23/hr - $34/hr depending on skills, experience, and credentials + overnight shift differentials
