Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare seeks an experienced registered nurse to provide professional nursing care in the Cancer Center, Carbondale, IL. This Day Shift, Per Diem role is part of SIH’s internal portal hiring through Workday.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning with a multidisciplinary team, accurate documentation, and patient education. An active IL RN license and CPR/BLS are required; ACLS and related certifications are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license
• Current CPR/BLS Card
• ACLS training within specific units (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional and spiritual support
• Develop, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care with the care team
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote health
• Document accurately in the patient chart and ensure chart integrity
• Support patient safety and quality of care through policy input
• Supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed staff as needed
• Advocate for patients by coordinating with health professionals
• Complete required education and licensure timely
• Float to SIH nursing units within competency
