Job summary

Duke Health is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to join the Radiation Oncology team at the Duke Cancer Center and Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, providing direct patient care in inpatient consult service and outpatient clinic.

Primary hours will be flexible with options for four 10-hour shifts or five 8-hour shifts to meet patient needs. Prior experience in Radiation Oncology or Oncology is preferred.

Qualifications

• Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with a Master's degree in Nursing.
• Physician Assistants must complete an accredited Physician Assistant program; a Bachelor's degree is required and a Master's is strongly preferred.
• BLS certification is required.

Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with designated physicians to evaluate and diagnose oncologic and medical problems and prescribe necessary treatment and services for Radiation Oncology patients.
• Elicit detailed patient histories, conduct physical exams, order diagnostic imaging and tests, and formulate treatment plans.
• Provide education to patients and caregivers regarding diagnosis, treatment plan, risks, benefits, side effects, and logistics of radiation treatment.
• Assess for and manage acute and late radiation-related effects.
• Maintain detailed health records and communicate with multidisciplinary teams for care coordination.
• Participate in education of new staff, students, and residents; maintain up-to-date clinical knowledge via CME.

Education

Nurse Practitioner master's degree

Physician Assistant master's degree (or bachelor's + master's preferred)
