Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Radiation Effects Subject Matter Expert to join our team. You will assess radiation impacts on system performance, model interactions with components, and contribute to test and qualification activities.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in radiation engineering and a degree in physics or engineering, with eligibility for a US government Secret clearance. You will collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams across the lifecycle of complex programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of Radiation Engineering or related experience.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required).

Responsibilities

• Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance.
• Design and harden systems across multiple radiation effects (dose rate, TID, NDD, SEE).
• Work with interdisciplinary teams to ensure radiation hardening is maintained across the product lifecycle.
• Assist in test plan development and review.
• Review Reports.
• Participate in Radiation Review Boards.
• Help generate templates and guides.
• Assist in developing training materials and tools for new hires.
• Assist with testing efforts, test station setup and validation and verification efforts.
• Collaborate on program requirements and provide feedback on approach to meet requirements.
