Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Radiation Effects Scientist to join our team in the United States. The role focuses on assessing and mitigating radiation impact on system performance, modeling interactions with components and sensors, and testing microelectronic parts.

Responsibilities include designing hardened systems for dose rate, TID, NDD, and SEE, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to training and testing programs throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in physics, electrical engineering, nuclear engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of radiation engineering, electronic component testing, or related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering decisions based on radiation effects on overall system performance.
  • Design and harden systems across multiple radiation effects (TID, NDD, SEE).
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across the product lifecycle.
  • Assist in test plan development and review.
  • Review reports and participate in Radiation Review Boards.
  • Develop training materials and tools for new hires.
  • Assist with testing efforts, test station setup and validation.
