Job summary

Crane Company in Kentucky seeks a Sensor Physicist to design, model, and drive development of 3He and 10B detectors, ion chambers, fission chambers, UV flame detectors, and NaI(Tl) gamma sensors. You will translate physics into commercial products through simulation, experimentation, and cross-functional engineering collaboration.

The role involves detector physics, data analysis, and production support to solve problems and advance product lines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in sensor modeling and development, radiation detection.
• Strong understanding of radiation interactions with matter, detector physics, neutron and gamma detection.
• Experience with experimental design, analyzing datasets and report writing.

Responsibilities

• Design radiation detectors: 3He and 10B counters, ion chambers, fission chambers.
• MCNP modeling and detector design review.
• Develop design practices and become SME on radiation detectors.
• Collaborate with production for manufacturing and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure product line success.
• Data analysis and detector evaluation.
• Engage with customers on new detector designs and RMAs.
• Inform leadership on production-impacting issues.
• Solve physics-related detector problems.
