Job summary

Crane Company is seeking a Sensor Physicist to design and model radiation detectors including 3He and 10B proportional counters, ion chambers, and fission chambers. You will drive product development, collaborate with production, and translate physics into commercially viable solutions.

The role combines detector physics, simulation, signal processing, and data analysis to support neutron, gamma, and UV detector products across production and customer engagements.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in sensor modeling and development, radiation detection.
• Strong understanding of radiation interactions with matter.
• Detector physics, neutron and gamma detection.
• Signal processing and statistical analysis.
• Experience with experimental design, analyzing datasets and report writing.
• Strong technical communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Design radiation detectors 3He, 10B proportional counters.
• Ion chambers, fission chambers, MCNP modeling.
• Review detector/sensor designs and develop practices.
• Work with production on manufacturing and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure product success.
• Analyze data and evaluate detectors; present results to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with customers on new designs and RMAs.
• Inform leadership on production-impacting issues; support R&D.
