Job summary

Murata, a global leader in electronic materials and components, seeks a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to advance radar sensing technologies for automotive applications. You will design and optimize ML models for radar signal processing and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy solutions.

The role requires a Master’s/PhD in a related field, 3+ years of ML research, strong Python and ML frameworks, and on-site work in San Diego with after-hours support.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years’ research experience in ML models and applied statistics.
• Strong radar fundamentals and signal processing concepts.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow; experience with NumPy, SciPy, pandas.
• Ability to train, build, deploy, and manage ML models for radar applications on platforms like Colab/AWS.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop advanced ML models for radar signal processing.
• Evaluate novel ML architectures for radar data.
• Develop end-to-end ML pipelines: preprocessing, feature extraction, training, validation, optimization.
• Model raw and processed radar data (time-domain, frequency-domain, range-Doppler, range-angle).
• Advance ML techniques for radar-based detection, classification, tracking.
• Optimize models for real-time and embedded deployment considering latency, memory, power.
• Translate research outcomes into scalable algorithms.
• Support product development with validation, benchmarking, and documentation.
• Serve as in-house mathematician/statistician.
