Job summary

JT4, LLC is seeking a Radar Evaluation Field Engineer to join the Radar Systems Certification and Analysis team. You will conduct field research, analyze radar measurement data, and assist senior engineers with system performance and calibration tasks.

Responsibilities include RF calibration, measurement uncertainty analysis, field testing, and preparing technical reports. Travel to remote locations may be required, and you will mentor junior personnel as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience using I&Q collection, signal generators, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and network analyzers.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and navigating computer drives and folders.
• Collect, process, document, and report measurement data with rigorous attention to accuracy, repeatability, and traceability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field research, analysis of radar measurement data, and technical reference review to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining accurate system performance and operational information.
• Plan and carry out successive engineering steps in radar measurement and field testing, and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as RF calibration procedures, measurement uncertainty analysis, and system performance calculations.
• Prepare, deliver, and submit technical reports of radar measurement data and field test results for data analysts.

Job description

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB DUTIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

ARadar Evaluation Field Engineer serves as a principal investigator and individual contributor to contract research, development, integration, and sustainment projects.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:

• This position is part of the part of the Radar Systems Certification and Analysis team.
• Conduct field research, analysis of radar measurement data, and technical reference review to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining accurate system performance and operational information.
• Keep informed of and study currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applicable to radar systems, RF measurement techniques, and field-testing practices.
• Perform varied and complex engineering and highly technical tasks related to radar measurement systems, RF calibration, field testing, and troubleshooting that may be difficult in character.
• Plan and carry out successive engineering steps in radar measurement and field testing, and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as RF calibration procedures, measurement uncertainty analysis, and system performance calculations.
• Support radar measurement and field-testing projects of limited scope, or portions of more complex radar system projects, or complete specifications and test procedures for less complex measurement tasks.
• Generate sections of radar measurement and field test specifications for more complex projects, or complete measurement, calibration, and test specifications for less complex projects.
• Using computer-assisted test and data acquisition methods, conduct field and laboratory investigations on radar measurement equipment or systems.
• Assist in the preparation of field test reports, radar measurement data summaries, correspondence, or technical studies related to system performance and calibration.
• Prepare, deliver, and submit technical reports of radar measurement data and field test results for data analysts.
• Provide on-site technical guidance and mentoring to junior field personnel as needed.
• Demonstrated proficiency with radar principles (pulse, CW, Doppler, phased-array concepts), RF/microwave measurements, and test instrumentation.

DESIRED QUALIFCATIONS

REQUIREMENTS -- EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associate’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

In addition, a Field Engineer III must possess the following qualifications:

• Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable senior technical contributor-level performance on complex projects or programs
• Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area
• Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs
• Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Planning/organizational skills

WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required.

Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
