An established industry player is seeking a Radiology Technologist Supervisor to lead a dynamic team in providing exceptional service and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Radiology Technologist Supervisor-Specialist Team provides day-to-day supervision for an assigned Radiology area (e.g., Diagnostic, Breast Imaging, Stony Point, CT/MRI, 3D lab) to ensure STAR Service, legal and regulatory compliance, clinical operations, human resources, safety & quality, customer service, leadership, and fiscal responsibility. This position guarantees that all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures are performed by qualified staff, of the highest quality, following ALARA, ACR Guidelines for imaging practices, and MRI safety standards where applicable. It also ensures compliance with VCU and VCUHS policies and procedures.
The role collaborates with lead technologists and frontline staff to resolve problems and implement new initiatives, programs, and policies. It works closely with other Radiology Supervisors, Managers, Faculty, and staff to promote departmental safety, quality, and teamwork. Reporting to the Modality Manager, the supervisor oversees clinical functions and processes, ensuring operational excellence, safety, efficiency, high-quality, and cost-effective care through lead technologists and staff.
This position supervises, maintains, and enhances business functions related to its responsibilities. It involves developing staff education and competencies, providing training to team members, students, residents, and learners, within the scope of practice defined in the Staff Technologist job description for each specialty. The supervisor also maintains technical competency across all responsibilities.
**Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire:**
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required for Diagnostic Supervisor, along with one of the following specialty registries related to the department: ARRT in Mammography for Breast Imaging Supervisor, ARRT in CT for CT Supervisor, ARRT in MRI for MRI Supervisor, ARRT CV or VIR for Interventional Supervisor, ARRT in CT or MRI for 3D lab supervisor, or other specified certifications.
**For continued employment:**
Current ARRT certification in the relevant specialty is required.
**Experience REQUIRED:**
Minimum of two (2) years of Lead Tech or equivalent Diagnostic Radiology experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of technical experience.
**Experience PREFERRED:**
Leadership experience and prior work in an academic medical center environment are preferred.
**Education/training REQUIRED:**
Graduation from a JRC-accredited Radiologic Technology program recognized by the ARRT.
**Education/training PREFERRED:**
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Radiation Science, Business, or related field; Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field.
**Independent actions:**
Coordinate daily workflow and supervise the team; seek guidance from the Manager when needed, especially for significant impacts on modality activities.
**Supervisory responsibilities:**
All team members in the assigned modality report to this position; may delegate responsibilities and cover unplanned staff absences as needed.
**Additional requirements:**
Weekend and after-hours coverage may be necessary based on workload.

**Physical requirements:**
Lifting 20-50 lbs., exposure to hazardous/infectious substances, prolonged standing/sitting, bending, walking, climbing, reaching. Activities include handling physical tasks and mental functions such as reasoning, problem-solving, and communication. The environment may be noisy and fast-paced, requiring adaptability and resilience.
