Job summary

SumUp in Sofia, Bulgaria, is seeking an experienced Head of Record to Report (R2R) to lead a 16-person accounting team across two locations. You will oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes, ensure compliant financial reporting, and partner with auditors to deliver annual statements.

As ACCA or CIMA member with IFRS expertise, you will drive process improvements, automate postings and reconciliations, and support multi-entity consolidation.

Qualifications

• Track record of leading a finance or accounting team through growth or significant change.
• ACCA or CIMA member with IFRS knowledge.
• Experience coordinating audit processes and building relationships with external auditors.
• Comfort in a fast-moving environment with imperfect processes and a drive to improve.
• Fluency in English to explain financial topics to non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes for R2R across all SumUp entities.
• Coordinate audits with external auditors to ensure timely financial statements.
• Drive automation of postings and reconciliations to free up capacity for improvements.
• Own the annual stock count process, including first-time count of field sales inventory.
• Manage and develop a team of 16 accountants across two locations with clear goals and feedback culture.
• Partner with Controlling, Treasury, Tax, Procurement, and People Ops to improve analysis and posting quality.
