Job summary

SumUp seeks a Group Financial Controller in Sofia to own statutory audits, reporting compliance across entities, and drive governance and reporting standards.

You’ll work closely with the Head of Controlling, coordinate with PwC, and lead month-end close in high-judgement areas like transfer pricing and chargebacks, shaping SumUp's financial house.

This role offers exposure to global fintech scale with office-first setup in Sofia and a path to future leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP in financial reporting.
• Experience owning a legal entity end-to-end from balance sheet reviews to statutory compliance.
• Comfort collaborating with tax, accounting, FP&A, and audit teams to resolve complex issues.
• Ability to break down ambiguous problems and drive them to resolution.
• Accounting qualification such as ACCA or CIMA is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own statutory audits and reporting compliance for a set of legal entities, including regular financial and balance sheet health checks.
• Review accounting entries and reconciliations critically, focusing on accuracy in high impact areas.
• Lead month end closing activities in high judgement areas such as transfer pricing and chargebacks.
• Manage the annual closing process for designated entities and financial areas.
• Coordinate directly with external auditors and other stakeholders on audit and technical matters.
• Prepare ad hoc reports on legal entity performance and jurisdictional requirements.
