Job summary

Custom Equipment, Inc. is seeking an experienced engineer to drive welding and R&D initiatives in our manufacturing environment. You will support new product development, improve existing processes, and collaborate with marketing, sales, and production to meet strategic goals.

The role requires hands-on expertise in MIG/ARC/GAS welding, fixturing for weld integrity, and proficiency with SolidWorks and robotic welding systems. Excellent problem-solving and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of welding experience (MIG/ARC/GAS) in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience fixturing parts to prevent warpage and ensure weld integrity.
  • Ability to operate Fab/Machine shop equipment and read drawings.
  • Welding in all positions and ability to set wire feed speeds/voltage.
  • Proficient with fixtures and welding to print specifications.
  • Experience building prototypes and fixtures preferred.
  • SolidWorks familiarity; Fanuc/Lincoln robotics experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering with research and development of new/existing products.
  • Coordinate testing procedures and draft specifications for manufacturing.
  • Provide technical assistance for process-related problems and root-cause analysis.
  • Setup, monitor, and maintain manufacturing processes; ensure SQDC goals.
  • Review drawings and specifications; propose changes and improvements.
  • Design/build prototypes and fixtures; support space utilization and efficiency.
  • Operate and program robotic welding equipment; ensure weld quality.
  • Document machine operations and coordinate preventative maintenance.
