Job summary

Isuzu Technical Center of America Inc. is seeking a Contract Technician, Vehicle Lab in Plymouth, MI. The role involves preparing test vehicles, installing instrumentation, and performing diagnosis and repairs on a range of vehicle systems for engineering staff.

You will operate mechanical and electrical test equipment, interpret schematics, and fabricate test fixtures as needed while maintaining safety and data integrity. Travel may be required for testing activities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 1 year college level automotive courses or 2-year degree in auto related field.
• Minimum 1 year experience as an automotive technician; R&D experience preferred.
• Knowledge of data acquisition equipment, its installation, and operation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and test vehicles for lab testing under engineering supervision.
• Diagnose and repair suspension, engine, brake, transmission, steering, HVAC, and tire systems.
• Set up and operate mechanical and electrical test equipment to collect data.
• Fabricate test fixtures and non-standard parts from drawings or schematics.
• Maintain inventory of parts, tools, and test equipment; ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Assist in evaluation and failure modal analysis as required.
