Job summary

Harmar Mobility in Sarasota, FL seeks an experienced R&D Technician to build prototypes, perform hands-on testing, and assist in designing new mobility products for vehicles. You will work with engineers, machinists, and manufacturing teams turning concepts into testable hardware.

The role requires strong mechanical aptitude, electrical knowledge, and experience with welding and machining in a fast-paced R&D environment. GED or technical degree preferred; 2+ years in R&D/prototyping encouraged.

Qualifications

• Solid mechanical aptitude with experience assembling mechanical systems.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, sensors, and basic circuits.
• Welding (MIG preferred) and machining experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics and documentation.
• Familiar with hand and power tools and precision measurement instruments.

Responsibilities

• Build, assemble, and modify prototypes from drawings or instructions.
• Perform mechanical and electrical testing, collect data, document results.
• Fabricate parts using manual machining equipment.
• Weld and fabricate components using MIG as required.
• Troubleshoot issues and assist design improvements.
• Support production readiness transition of prototypes.
