Job summary

Antora Energy is seeking a self-driven R&D Test Operator to support round-the-clock testing of full-scale and subscale experiments at our San Jose, CA hub. You will master SCADA/HMI controls to operate high-power test systems, perform checks, and contribute to test infrastructure improvements.

The role requires hands-on installation/uninstallation of test hardware, off-hours shifts, and occasional travel to other sites.

Qualifications

• Experience operating industrial test equipment via SCADA, HMI, or similar control systems.
• Demonstrated discipline in following and improving structured procedures, checklists, and SOPs.
• Hands-on experience installing, removing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment (motors, VFDs, pumps, valves, sensors).
• Familiarity with instrumentation such as RTDs, thermocouples, and transmitters.
• Comfortable using hand tools and basic diagnostic equipment (multimeters, gas sensors).
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments during remote/off-hours shifts.

Responsibilities

• Operate high-power, high-temperature (>2000 °C) test systems via SCADA/HMI during shifts.
• Monitor system health, respond to alarms, and perform safe shutdowns when needed.
• Install and uninstall test articles; complete pre-/post-flight checklists for experiments.
• Support commissioning of TES modules, subscale rigs, and balance of plant systems.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, and controls domains.
• Document anomalies with clear communication to test eng and product teams.
• Read schematics and assist with building, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing balance of plant systems.
