Job summary

Blue Current in Hayward, CA is seeking an R&D Technician to produce battery materials and build cells for high-energy-density applications. You will work on a fast-paced team focused on safe, scalable solid-state chemistries.

Responsibilities include material production and characterization using SEM, XRD, TGA and Raman, with thorough documentation of results. A degree in materials science or a related field and lab experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented laboratory experience with proper documentation.
• Ability to work in a dry room and glove box.
• Proficient in Excel and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to lab safety and SDS reading.

Responsibilities

• Produce battery components and supply materials as needed.
• Characterize cell materials using SEM, XRD, TGA and Raman.
• Cast anodes and perform regular quality checks.
• Assemble solid-state cells and prepare them for testing.
• Discuss characterization results to understand material-property relationships.
• Maintain organized and clean laboratory spaces.
• Perform preventative maintenance and calibrations on equipment.
• Complete material documentation accurately and timely.
• Adapt to evolving core technology processes while keeping detailed notes.
