Job summary

The ASR Group is seeking a Research and Development Technician to support new product development through lab and pilot plant experiments. You will perform standard tests, set up equipment, and develop procedures for evaluating new materials and processes.

Responsibilities include data collection, analysis, and reporting, collaboration with engineers, and maintaining lab safety and equipment calibration. A BS in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience in basic pulp & paper chemistry techniques.
• Experience working in a lab or R&D setting with relevant instrumentation (pH, moisture, color, burst strength).
• Ability to interpret data and perform statistical analyses.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; SAP and Minitab preferred.
• Ability to work independently or in a team to meet objectives and timelines.
• Willingness to lift 30 lbs and work flexible hours.
• Attention to detail and strong communication skills.
• Comfortable presenting to NPD colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Procures materials, collects samples and prepares products for testing and pilot-scale runs.
• Executes basic experiments to test hypotheses while maintaining a safe lab environment.
• Prepares compounds and reagents and coordinates results of tests.
• Develops, improves and customizes equipment, products and analytical methods.
• Collects and analyzes lab data and documents findings.
• Collaborates with engineers and scientists on test analysis and development.
• Maintains stocks of critical supplies and calibrates equipment.
• Creates and updates Lab SOPs for processes/equipment.
• Cleans pilot plant equipment and ensures proper calibration.
