Job summary

LaMotte Company is seeking an R&D Technician in Chestertown, MD to support development and optimization of new testing instruments and processes. The role emphasizes precision, collaboration, and turning R&D insights into scalable manufacturing practices.

The ideal candidate has 0–5 years in a chemical lab, strong wet chemistry skills, data analysis and meticulous documentation, and must pass a color perception test as part of the application.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Bachelor’s preferred.
• 0–5 years of hands-on experience in a chemical or analytical lab.
• Experience with wet chemistry techniques: UV-Vis, fluorescence, titrations, calibrations, turbidity.
• Understanding of process development and scale-up; manufacturing support preferred.
• Excellent data analysis, technical reporting, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and collaborative mindset.
• Must be able to pass a color test.

Responsibilities

• Support technical implementation of new technologies transitioning R&D to manufacturing.
• Conduct experiments to develop, evaluate, and optimize new instruments and methods.
• Analyze and interpret complex data to guide research decisions.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical challenges with cross-functional teams.
• Support validation and verification testing to ensure quality.
• Maintain detailed lab documentation and contribute to reports and SOPs.
• Recommend improvements to experimental design and lab safety practices.
• Participate in cross-functional project teams representing R&D in production, quality, and support discussions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
