Job summary

LaMotte Company, a 100+ year-old global leader in water analysis solutions with facilities in Newark, Chestertown, and beyond, is seeking a hands-on manufacturing technician in Chestertown, MD. You will operate and maintain equipment, prepare reagents, and document production data to support quality and efficiency.

The role requires teamwork, safety awareness, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work overtime as needed, and participate in lean methods to continuously improve operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; chemistry exposure preferred.
• Good mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Good judgment, decision-making, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team, with overtime as needed.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication with production, R&D, and QA teams.
• Must be able to wear chemical respirator.
• Lifts up to 40–50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains manufacturing equipment with proper training.
• Prepares reagents according to procedures and in order of priority.
• Maintains and records accurate production data and samples.
• Assists in daily equipment setup for any machine as needed.
• Attends and participates in designated shift huddles.
• Assures production rates and quality standards are met and addresses issues.
• Transports product using pallet jacks and carts.
• Participates in lean activities, including kaizen or 5-S; DMAICs to improve efficiency.
• Completes monthly safety observations.
• Notifies Supervisors/Managers of issues and assists in resolution.
• Provides feedback for training needs and seeks additional training.
• Assists in other department activities and performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all Company policies.
