Qualifications

  • Completed at least one year of a two-year technical degree program or recently graduated with a two-year technical degree.
  • Pursuing or recently earned an Associate degree in Electronics Engineering Technology, Automated Systems & Robotics, or related fields.
  • Must be available for full six-month program, mid‑May through mid‑November.
  • Must be able to work on-site five days per week in Maple Grove, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Procure components for tasks under R&D staff direction.
  • Analyze and resolve design problems related to device and prototype performance.
  • Design, fabricate, and prototype new device concepts.
  • Develop new test methods for in vitro device testing.
  • Assist product development teams with device design and testing.
  • Debug and interpret electrical schematics; solder circuitry; use oscilloscope, multimeter, and LCR meter.
  • Plan and schedule own activities to meet timelines.

Our research and development technicians are tasked with designing and developing innovative, breakthrough next‑generation medical devices that improve and extend the lives of patients around the world. The Interventional Therapies business offers minimally invasive technologies and works to diagnose and treat a variety of cardiovascular conditions. Growth in the division is driven by aging population, global healthcare access and diabetes.

As a Research & Development Technician Associate within the Interventional Cardiology division, you’ll gain hands‑on experience supporting projects ranging from exploratory research through new product development, including next‑generation single‑use and capital equipment devices.

The Technician Associate Program is a six‑month program beginning in mid‑May. During the summer, associates will work full‑time, 40 hours per week. Once the academic year begins, current students can transition to a part‑time schedule that accommodates their coursework, while recent graduates may continue working full‑time for the duration of the six‑month program.

Throughout the experience, you’ll receive multiple program evaluations, check‑ins, and development touchpoints to support your growth and provide ongoing feedback.

In this role, you’ll contribute to real‑world problem solving, design, prototyping, testing, and other R&D activities, with responsibilities aligned to your skills and strengths. We’re looking for a motivated, hands‑on technician who is eager to learn, collaborate, and contribute meaningful solutions in a fast‑paced med‑tech environment.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Take lead from R&D staff and procure the necessary components for the task defined.
  • Analyze and resolve design problems associated with device and prototype performance
  • Design, fabricate, and prototype new device concepts to address clinical feedback
  • Develop new and innovative test methods for in vitro device testing
  • Assist new product development teams with device design and testing
  • Debug, interpret electrical schematics, solder circuitry, utilize oscilloscope, multimeter, LCR meter
  • Perform troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process
  • At times you will be asked to work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet business timelines and provide updates to other team members
Required qualifications:
  • Completed at least one year of a two‑year technical degree program OR recently graduated with a two‑year technical degree.
  • Currently pursuing or recently earned an Associate degree in one of the following majors or a related technical field: Electronics Engineering Technology, Automated Systems & Robotics, Industrial Controls & Robotics, Engineering Drafting & Design or Electronics, Automation Robotics Engineering Technology, CNC Machining, Engineering CAD Technology, Manufacturing Engineering Technology,
  • Must be able to commit to the full six‑month program, from mid‑May through mid‑November.
  • Must be available to work full‑time (up to 40 hours per week), Monday through Friday, on‑site five days per week
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment‑based work authorization
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from both Boston Scientific Maple Grove locations:
    • Weaver Lake- 1 Scimed Place Maple Grove, MN 55311
    • Arbor Lakes- 1 Boston Scientific Way, Maple Grove, MN 55369
Preferred qualifications:
  • Mechanically and/or electrically inclined

Maximum Salary: $ 65,728

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
