Job summary

Chobani, based in Allentown, PA, is seeking a Scientist to support multiple R&D product platforms. The role includes operating lab and pilot-plant equipment, handling raw materials, preparing new materials for internal and customer testing, and maintaining lab reports to ensure food safety and quality.

You will assist with shipping/receiving of finished goods for tasting and shelf-life testing, participate in design of experiments, document results, and perform routine testing and data analysis

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in food/dairy science, chemistry, biology, or related life science field.
• 2–5 years in food/dairy manufacturing or laboratory science; or degree in a life science field (dairy beverage/application is preferred).
• Ability to operate pilot plant production equipment and laboratory testing equipment.
• Ability to handle ambiguity and work in fast paced, entrepreneurships working culture.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize work by sequencing and timing of different jobs based on precedence and importance.
• Understanding and following standard operating procedures and instructions.
• Knowledge of Sanitation, CIP and COP procedures preferred, and ability to work with chemicals.
• Basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel; PowerPoint a plus.
• Good verbal and written communication skills; able to define ideas, problems and solutions.
• Self-motivated and self-directed; able to work independently and in group settings.
• Basic math and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of PPEs, GLP and cGMP.

Responsibilities

• Operate lab equipment and pilot plant equipment; support projects and shelf-life studies.
• Record observations and prepare data and basic lab reports under guidance.
• Assist in design of experiments and analysis of results with the team.
• Support maintenance, calibrations, and CIP on lab and pilot equipment.
• Participate in sensory evaluations and quality testing of ingredients and finished products.
• Create and maintain accurate records of procedures and results.
• Coordinate with internal departments for shipments and inventory management.
• Assist in shipping finished goods and samples to vendors and customers.
• Attend mandatory trainings (Allergen, HACCP, GMP, Safety) and team meetings.
