Job summary

Winchester Ammunition is seeking an energetic R&D Project Engineer in Independence, MO to bridge lab designs and factory scale. You will transform experimental ammo concepts into production-ready processes and tooling, collaborating with designers and manufacturing experts to meet stringent Army standards.

You will own projects from prototyping through pilot runs to full production hand-off, traveling ~10% and contributing to critical defense initiatives at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Solid understanding of mechanical systems and machinery.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities.
• Willingness to collaborate with team members.
• Travel approximately 10%.

Responsibilities

• Take experimental R&D designs and re-engineer them for high-speed, production environments.
• Develop and refine manufacturing processes, tooling, and equipment specifications for precision at scale.
• Collaborate with R&D engineers, ballisticians, and manufacturing experts to solve complex technical hurdles.
• Own the lifecycle of engineering tasks from prototyping to full-scale production hand-off.
• Identify and implement innovative technologies to enhance quality and throughput.
• Lead testing and qualification to meet Army performance standards.
