Job summary

Anthropic is seeking a Procurement Operations Business Partner to own the end-to-end purchasing path for its R&D portfolio. You will manage a high-volume queue of purchase requests, work orders, and change orders, ensuring correct vendor records, contract alignment, and timely accruals.

You will collaborate with Legal, Security, and Finance to move contracts, align with accounting practices, and stand up new programs with scalable, AI-enhanced processes.

Qualifications

• 5-7+ years of procurement operations, purchasing, or vendor operations, including time supporting a research, engineering, hardware, or outsourced services organization.
• Experience as the embedded procurement partner for a hyper scaling data operations, ML, RL, and lab environments
• Time at a hypergrowth technology company scaling procurement operations for outsourced or vendor delivered work.
• Background in accounting, accounts payable, or a month-end close process, including experience with three-way match
• Sourced human data, data labeling, annotation, or evaluation vendors (or comparable BPO and outsourced operations) with a point of view on where that market is heading
• Direct experience with Zip, Workday Financials, and Ironclad.
• Prior ownership of month end accrual review or open PO reconciliation for a large, variable spend portfolio
• Experience designing tiered intake or approval frameworks that sped up low risk purchases without weakening controls.

Responsibilities

• Own the purchasing path for R&D, managing high volume purchase requests, work orders, and change orders.
• Serve as the primary procurement partner for research teams and special programs, guiding requests from initial to issued PO.
• Review each request for correct vendor records, complete commercial documents, correct spend categorization, and necessary approvals.
• Determine requirements (SOW, order form, amendment, security/privacy review, or third-party risk assessment) and route for review.
• Coordinate contract review with Legal, ensure executed agreements support the PO before issue.
• Structure POs to reflect vendor billing and accounting needs, managing changes, renewals, and closures.
• Be the front door for new programs, translating requirements into actionable procurement plans with Legal, Security, and Finance.
• Maintain playbooks and intake guidance to keep paths repeatable and scalable.
