Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico seeks a motivated, self-starting R&D Mechanical Engineer to join the Advanced Manufacturing group (7520) as a production process engineer supporting agile product realization. You will work with a team of experienced personnel to take on challenging production, and development assignments that serve the evolving needs across the NSE as well as SPP programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Active DOE Q security clearance or equivalent.
• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
• Experience with product realization, production, or process development.
• Experience with electrical testing, calibration, and/or programming.
• Understanding of RF engineering fundamentals.
• Systems-oriented, able to manage production processes and mitigate risks.
• Ability to analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for quality, schedule and cost.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, maintain, and oversee new production processes meeting quality, safety, cost, and schedule goals.
• Oversee testing operations for packaged electronics devices and calibration of measurement equipment.
• Perform structured problem solving to address urgent process or product issues.
• Collect and analyze data to monitor key production metrics.
• Identify opportunities to reduce yield loss and improve throughput.
• Review design definitions for manufacturability and provide improvements.
• Consult with Sandia organizations to provide production expertise to teams.
• Closely integrate with quality, design systems, NSE partners, and vendors.
• Work onsite due to nature of work.
