Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Materials Test Operator to support our mechanical testing and characterization lab. You will prepare test specimens, run experiments, and maintain data integrity while collaborating with engineers and scientists on high-temperature superconducting magnet components.

The role involves extensive use of Instron systems, metallographic prep, microscopy, and thermophysical tests in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years in materials prep and testing tools.
• 2+ years in mechanical and electrical assembly, vacuum systems, cryogenics, soldering, wiring.
• Follow safety procedures and work in a fast-paced R&D environment.
• Strong attention to detail and communication.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test specimens and run laboratory experiments.
• Improve the materials test and characterization lab processes.
• Assist inventory management and report for purchasing.
• Process Jira tickets and QA/QC orders per SOPs.
• Operate Instron and related testing equipment and methods.
• Manage data and report results; assist with maintenance.
