Job summary

Benshaw Inc. is seeking an R&D Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team developing the next generation of motor control products, from concept through production.

You will own the technical roadmap for LV soft starters and MV drives, guide architecture decisions, and ensure certification readiness. You will lead engineers across power electronics, controls, firmware, and mechanical disciplines; manage budgets, schedules, and risk; and collaborate with product management, sales, and operations to

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in power electronics or motor control development.
• At least 5 years leading engineers or engineering projects.
• Hands-on design with variable frequency drives or soft starters.
• Strong knowledge of power semiconductors (IGBTs/SCRs) and thermal management.
• Experience taking products through UL, CSA, IEC certification.
• Demonstrated success delivering products to production on schedule.
• Clear written and verbal communication with engineers, executives and customers.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year technology roadmap for LV and MV soft starters and drives.
• Guide architecture decisions for power topologies, cooling, and control platforms.
• Evaluate technologies such as SiC devices, embedded connectivity, and cybersecurity.
• Lead, hire, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Manage stage-gate development from concept to production release.
• Oversee schedules, budgets, risks, and communications to leadership.
• Maintain documentation, ECO processes, and design verification testing.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, supply chain, and field service to support customers.
• Ensure compliance with UL/CSA/IEC standards and certification programs.
